Nepal is located in South Asia and shares territorial borders with India and China. Previously ruled as a kingdom, today its is a Federal Democratic Republic. Nepal is known for its exquisite natural beauty, with the iconic Himalayas running across the northern and western part of the country. Eight of the fourteen highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest, reside within the country’s borders. Although Nepal is a relatively small country in comparison with its neighbours, it has an astonishingly diverse landscape, from the rugged Himalayas in the north to the humid Terai Plains in the south. The capital and largest City is Kathmandu.

History of Nepal

During the 18th Century, Nepal clashed head to head with the British troops of the East India Company during the Anglo-Nepali War. Despite facing an advanced military troop armed with modern weaponry, the fierce Gurkha soldiers of Nepal crushed the British troops and earned a lot of fame and respect from the East India Company for their military ferocity & valor. The war ended with the signing of the Sugauli Treaty. Presently, it is the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Nepal is the hometown of Siddhartha who was born in Lumbini.

POKHARA

Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It's known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.

KATHMANDU

Kathmandu is the largest city and capital of Nepal and the namesake of the Kathmandu Valley. Once thought to be the fabled and inaccessible Shangri-La, Kathmandu is now a hub for independent travellers as well as a growing vacation spot catering to all budgets. As a result of considerable urban growth in recent decades, it is now part of one continuous urban area together with Patan to the south.

CHITWAN

Chitwan National Park is a preserved area in the Terai Lowlands of south-central Nepal, known for its biodiversity. Its dense forests and grassy plains are home to rare mammals like one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers. The park shelters numerous bird species, including the giant hornbill. Dugout canoes traverse the northern Rapti River, home to crocodiles. Inside the park is Balmiki Ashram, a Hindu pilgrimage site.
